Dr. Jiwoong Jung joined the faculty at Murray State University in the fall of 2024. He teaches courses in state and local government, human resource management, and research methods. His research focuses on the professionalism of local government management, with a particular interest in the professionalism of appointed chief administrators in the U.S. local government, examining the factors driving their demand and supply. His work has been published in journals such as the American Review of Public Administration.
He is also interested in environmental policy. His research explores how various factors, including governance institutions, ideology, demographic characteristics, and others, can significantly impact the environmental policy process. Building upon policy theories, he investigates whether the form of government can be an additional factor influencing the heterogeneous implementation process of environmental policies.
Dr. Jung received his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri and his MPA from The Ohio State University. He earned his B.A. from the State University of New York at Binghamton, majoring in political science.
